Tips for Being a More Productive Writer

Happy New Year! While I’m not one for making resolutions, I’d break them before New Year’s Day is over, there is something  to be said for taking a day to refocus your goals and examining what you want to be doing with your day, your life, your writing career.

It’s the latter that I’ve given a lot of thought to recently as my writing career has evolved quite a bit in the last year and I’ve learned a lot from that growth. Some good, some interesting, and some that were necessary writing mistakes to learn from.

With that in mind, here are some tips to help you be a more productive writer in 2015.

1. Yes you do need to take some time to decompress each day, but if that 10-minute break turns into a 3-hour marathon of House Hunters, you’ve lost valuable writing time you won’t get back.

2. Learn to say no. If you’re like me you don’t want to turn down your clients, especially if it’s a potentially new client. However, given that there are only so many hours in the day, you must realistically weigh each proposal.
